Easter Monday -Port Talbot vs Afan Lido

Today we venture in to Wales for a local derby. Afan Lido is about 1 mile away from Port Talbot

I think it's fair to say neither team is in that good a form, Afan are trying to avoid relegation but Port Talbot have already succumded to that horror, having lost every single match this season.  As it stands Port Talbot have played 28, lost 28, scored 8 and conceded 115. So we are hoping we proved to be the 12th man and bring the Steel Men a little bit of luck.

This match is a quick fire return fixture for the clubs having played each other on Good Friday  with Afan winning 2-0

Given the position of Port Talbot and this is the first time I have been here, they have played alright, kept a clean sheep and had a few half chances and I did Tweet that Port Talbot were only 45 mins away from there best result all season. Me and my big mouth, a 5min spell around the hour mark, cost Port Talbot any hope of a point, 2 quick goals, including a penalty were more than Afan desrved based on the first half, then to make matters worse, Port Talbot had a man sent off.

There was a decent crowd, it looked to be around 150-200, perhaps more. This was bolstered by the away fans bring a sizeable army with them.

The facilities were reasonable, the tea was nice, £1 per cup and it only cost us £5 each to get in, which was more than reasonable

XT sitting alone in the stands.

The result was to be expected. The home team battled hard fot the 1st 45 and were the better team. They, however never really looked like scoring but then again Afan showed equally why they are down the foot of the table, they just had that bit more about them.

One thing I will say in comparison to watching football in the Duchy league, players on both teams kept falling down under the slightest of tackles, the ref liked to blow his whistle and give out cards,

The home crowd were funny, when a sub was made  after Port Talbot went 2-0 and a man down. The lads beside obviously knew the player coming on. Dan, got a rousing reception followed by "I've seen him in the shower" LoL.

Hope you all had a great day if you were watching football or just enjoying the fine weather. Just a reminder, this weeks podcast is up on our new hosts, Anchor.FM, click here to listen now
