Lifton FC vs Bodmin Town Res

Game week two and first home game of the season for Lifton and already it's been tough.  Just as the season started, the recently formed 2nd team disbanded and the 1st team got thumped at Dobwell res. Today, looked like it could also be a battle.

Lifton started brightly and gave Bodmin a challeneg and even hit the post mid way through the 1st half with the score at 0-0

However, the possession and effort shortly came to nothing as Bodmin took the lead

so Lifton found themselevs behind after the 1st 45mins, which was a little harsh as they had played a lot better and deserved to be at least level going into the break.

Whatever Nick said to the team at half-time had the effect and within minutes of the restart Lifton were level

Then shortly afterwards, Lifton were in the lead

However, the heat then started to take it's toll and within 15mins Bodmin were back level

The sun beat down and Lifton started to run out of steam

then it was 2-3

then to add insult to injury, a fairly tame foul in the box and Bodmin were given a penalty

Chris did well and got a hand to it but the ball was just a bit to well placed.

A decent performance from both teams but Lifton deserved better. Non league football is never dull

Our first home game of the season saw us playing Bodmin Town FC second which was looking  like it was going to be another tough test after our away trip to Dobwalls Reserves. We started the game strong and we seemed to be on top. Craig, Shorty and Connor all going close during he first half. A loose ball in the midfeild was picked up by Bodmin which led to the first goal of the game, not a deserved lead but a good finish. In the second half we hit back with 2 goals from Connor to make it 2-1 to Lifton, they then got a goal back to make it 2-2. I came on with about 10 minutes to go and I got to wear the captains armband which was quite an honour. I put in a couple of strong tackles (which were actualy clean for once) which I think scared some of the Bodmin lads as they had a good moan about it. I did have a chance with the ball over towards the let handside of the pitch, i knew i had a defender behind me and in atnticipation of him being stronger i chose to lean my body towards him to sheild the ball but I was actually further ahead of him than i thought and I fell over. Late on they added 2 more goals to make it 2-4. Despite the result, it was a good perfomance by the lads and should give us confidence going into our next game against Southgate.

Enjoy the bank holiday
