We travelled the relatively short journey of 19 miles to Holsworthy, a small market town in Devon to see their football ground, Upcott Field.
Holsworthy AFC are known as the Magpies (probably due to their black and white strip) and have been playing football in the town since 1891.
In comparison to all the other clubs we have been to so far, Holsworthy is the biggest in terms of league position as they play in The Premier East League, which is part of the South West Pennisula Football League.
They also have floodlights which is the first ground we have seen this at. Holsworthy also have a range of local sponsors which helps fund the development of the squad. This is also the first ground we have been to that charges an admission fee.
Holsworthy is only the second ground we have visited that has dug outs, the other being Polperro.
When we were there, we noticed that people were using part of the ground as a short cut to the houses surrounding the pitch. They also have a club house which appears to be open 6 nights a week, generating further income for the club making it a truly community based club.
