Lifton vs Appldore 2nds

A very wet morning, which was a continuation of a very wet night. However the weather gods granted us some decent weather, in the afternoon, so to Lifton we did venture. It's a ground we know quite well, as XT signed for Lifton in September

Located at the Recreation Park, which is set in amongst some beautiful countryside.

No dug outs but a rather nice club house (I didnt try the tea/coffee but they did a rather nice bacon sarnie for £2.50) and the odd bench around the ground. Nick, the manager told me they are trying to build something for the community and are looking to add a 2nd team soon.

The pitch is right next to the river Lyd and many a time one of the team has had to go in to resuce a ball caused by a miscued or over hit pass but not today- The Lyd was rampant with all the rain.

I (Larry) only caught the tail end of the 1st half as I went for a ride on the bike but I didnt miss any goals and Appledore had played some decent football (by all accounts) and had a shot off the post. However, Nick (or Barry) obviously had some words of motivation at half-time, as the home team came back out and bossed the 2nd 45, winning 3-0 in the end

"Up for a corner"-I can't remember if Lifton scored from this set piece.

Obilgatory corner flag shot

It will be a busy old weekend for Lifton as they are playing Castle Royale (?) at Launceston, in another cup match.
